However, as winter sets in there’s always the potential of being stranded roadside for hours, especially if you spend time in the mountains. The following list contains suggested items for a car safety kit to keep you covered.

  • Jumper cables or self-jumper device
  • Flashlight with extra batteries
  • Gloves

  • Multipurpose tool
  • Rain poncho or warm coat
  • Water and nonperishable snacks
  • Blanket
  • Snow shovel
  • Cat litter or devices for traction
  • Ice scraper
  • Small fire extinguisher
