GET STRONG FAST

Got 13 minutes? That’s all it takes (times thrice weekly) to create a meaningful strength workout, according to a recent study in the journal Medicine in Science in Sports & Exercise.

The study’s volunteers, young men who lift weights, were split into three groups. All did three lifting sessions per week, but the time they put in varied.

True, the “higher volume” groups saw bigger increases in certain muscles. But after eight weeks, the researchers said, all groups, including the lifters who put in a mere 13 minutes, showed noteworthy gains in strength and endurance. So, doing your crunches needn’t cause a time crunch.
