A MODERN SNAKE OIL
The one thing that is well known about CBD — cannabidiol, the non-psychoactive marijuana derivative that’s all the rage — is that very little is known about it.
CBD is being used to treat ailments as varied as eczema, tobacco addiction, Crohn’s disease, nausea, MS, and autism. But does it actually do anything?
“It is a kind of a new snake oil in the sense that there are a lot of claims and not so much evidence,” Johns Hopkins researcher Dustin Lee told The New York Times.
If one drug can treat all those conditions, it’ll be a deservedly hot seller. Until we know more, of course, we just won’t know.
